Gears of War is a third person shooter game, with its core concepts being derived from Resident Evil 4's "over the shoulder" perspective, Kill Switch's cover system, and Bionic Commando's swinging action akin to moving between points of cover. The series focuses on using cover to tactically engage the enemy in battle to avoid taking damage. While behind cover, the player can fire blindly and inaccurately at their opponent, or can look around the cover and aim carefully, though exposing himself to enemy fire; the player can also slide along cover, move between nearby cover, or vault over cover to race to a new point of cover. As the player takes damage, the "Crimson Omen" appears on the HUD, becoming more defined as the player nears low health levels. The player can regenerate their health by staying out of harm's way for a short while. Should the player take too much damage, they will become incapacitated unless revived by a teammate; depending on game mode, the player may be able to recover from this state on their own, or may die after a short amount of time if not revived. When a combatant is down, a member of the other side may also attempt to execute the downed player via a "curb stomp" or other brutal method. Some types of damage will immediately kill the player with no chance of revival, such as explosive damage. There are five levels on both of the games, but they are referred to as "acts" and each act is formed into a certain amount of chapters. Discuss Microsoft 3rd Person Shooter exclusive. Talk about the story, the characters or share your gaming experiences. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I like the gears of war games, story is pretty awesome, the multiplayer can be fun and really hard at times. I do all the ways to execute people whether its chainsaws or beating them with their own limbs. I Have had some good items just running around chainsawing things.

I really enjoyed the Gears Series. I played mostly for the Story and not the multi. I had a stint where I played the multi a lot, but wasn't really fun alone.
Judgement came out today. Anyone have it and what do they think about it?

I read the GI review and they do say no matter the changes it feels like Gears. Just want a friends perspective. Also Is there still Horde? Thought I read they removed it or something.

Yeah, it's still Gears, but more... I guess accessible? it definitely has the smallest MP offering of any of the games, with only four modes. Overrun is awesome, and you REALLY need to work together. Overrun feels like Gears with battlefield teamwork. The campaign is fun, fast paced, but there's less focus on story, and more focus on action this time, so that may disappoint some. I'm okay with it. About 2 acts in now I think.
And Horde mode has been replaced with "Survival" mode, which is ten much faster paced rounds, instead of 50 slowly evolving rounds.

So this "Survival" mode is pretty much Horde, but faster?

I haven't played it, I just know from the promotional videos. So I'll let you know for sure after, but yeah, it's supposed to be faster paced, more deadly, early on, and requires a lot of teamwork. It's also classed based like Overrun, so you're going to need medics, engineers, soldiers for ammo, ect.

Yessir. Three points, hold and cap. Game is badass.
EDIT: You have loadouts now, you select a primary, and a grenade. The gnasher seems WAY toned down, and you can no longer have a gnasher, and rifle, unless you swap your pistol out midgame/life
